Our Wedding Pictures!!!

11 Apr

First and foremost, Nikki and I would like to thank each and every one of you for being a very special part of our wedding. Whether you read our blog posts leading up to, or were there on the day of, we truly thank you for your support.

Second, we’d like to apologize for the delay on posting content after our “BIG DAY.” The plan was to post our wedding photos soon after we received them but it didn’t happen. In fact, we tried to bundle all the images into a blog post months ago but the technology available did not make it easy to post nearly 1,000 photos on our blog. At that point, Nikki and I agreed that maybe we shouldn’t post pictures and we shouldn’t bother cluttering your news feed with more wedding news.

Today of all days, I felt that it was necessary to complete our digital love story and finally share our special day with you.

We hope that you enjoy all of the pictures taken by Studio Castillero, and please feel free to save, share and leave us comments.

Thanks for reading!

Hey guys! It’s definitely been a while since our last post… I guess you can say that we’ve just been enjoying life and each other since the wedding. But we write bearing great news. We finally received our wedding highlight reel!!! The footage came out great, and the final product was definitely worth the wait. We also have a longer format video of all the important moments, but this is just a teaser clip of all the fun. We hope you enjoy.

It’s been a minute since our last post, and boy have we been busy! Wedding day is upon us! 19 days to be exact. I can’t believe it’s already been 1 year to date that I said “yes!” We apologize for not keeping you all up to date on our blog, but at the same time, we want the last few details of the wedding to be a surprise 🙂 But all wedding things aside, I wanted to share something…(for you bubbs)

Today is my favorite holiday (second to Christmas…and even better than my own birthday)! It’s our 11-year anniversary. Happy Anniversary to us!

To my heart…

Thank you for being the man that you are today. 11 years later, and I am still whole-heartedly in love with you. Over the years, we have both grown in ourselves and with each other, and I feel absolutely blessed that we can still hold hands and walk together in this lifetime. We’ve had our ups and downs, and at the end of the day, we are still 11 years strong. If ever soul mates existed, I thank God that you are mine. Everyday you still inspire me to be a better person. Thank you for being more humble and less selfish than I…thank you for your kindness, and for your prayer. I love that you are a God-fearing man who always thinks of others before yourself. With that said, you are the most considerate and generous person I know, and you deserve every good thing in this world! I could not ask for an ounce more of happiness with you, and I thank you for always meeting me half way.

Our life together, however imperfect, is perfect in every way. I love that I can’t wait to see you after work, and I love that even then, all I want to do is greet you at the door and breathe you in, and ask you how your day was. I love that you wake up way too early in the morning and think about what you’re going to do that day, never wanting to miss a beat (or even nap, in fear that you will lol). I love that you always pray, and tell me to “shhh” if you’re in the middle of it. I love our wrestle and playtime when I “accidentally” gouge your skin and I can always get away with it 😛 lol. I love hitting your head with a water bottle and hearing the sound it makes LOL. I love snuggling. I love your smell. I absolutely LOVE our laughs!

I just love you. With all my heart! I want to scream from the top of my lungs for the whole world to know, and I want to sing all the cheesiest and greatest love songs ever made in the car. That’s all there is to it. There’s no defining it, no judging it. Just plain & simple, like you and I. I love you.

Today, I’m thanking our higher power for you.

And just like I said, I now want to sing and dance! let’s all click below and sing 😉

cameras & kisses

One of the best wedding decisions we’ve made so far? Choosing Studio Castillero as our photographers! Not only did we LOVE the way our pictures turned out, but we had a fantastic time shooting with the ever so awesome duo, Rachel and Rico Castillero. We had the opportunity to meet the pair a month ago, and they were absolutely the most down-to-earth, cool couple. We met them at their lovely home and hashed it up from the second we walked through the door. We couldn’t have asked for a better duo to capture our relationship through photo.

Our engagement shoot was done in San Diego at a state park recommended by lovely Rachel. We had communicated to her prior to the shoot that we wanted a natural setting, nothing too loud…nothing that would distract the eye, but rather capture US. And boy she did not disappoint! She found the perfect little location, the sun was setting, I loved my dress (lol)..it was perfect. We thought at first it might be awkward. You know…take our picture? pose? Uhhh…awkward?! lol But that wasn’t the case with these two at all! We felt completely comfortable in front of the camera…they made us laugh, a lot. And we kissed…a lot (sorry Rachel & Rico…lol). Thanks again for a lovely time…and without further ado, some of our favorites 🙂

recycle & reUse

2 Apr

I must, I must, I MUST internet blast the wonderful world of The Long Beach Depot for Creative ReUSe. For anyone who loves to craft, go there now! I walked into this place and I was immediately obsessed. The Depot is just what it sounds like…any and everything you can think of that might be thought of as junk, can be re-used, and it WILL be found in this place. Anything from old pen caps, to buttons, to old sewing patterns, and bottle caps, etc. The store recycles random materials for the creators re-invention. Super eco-friendly. Not only can you find the most random materials for sale, but you end up paying little to nothing for any project imaginable. We came here to look for vintage materials to use for wedding decor, and I will admit that I was a bit distracted. With that said, I did find what I was looking for, and I will be back in the future to rummage through all their riches 🙂

a “painting party”

2 Apr

Still playing “catch up” with these blogs! Back in January, both Oz and I had a week off from work to get a head start on some of our handmade projects. We both knew we couldn’t do it alone, so we conjured up a bunch of our friends and family to join in on the action and called it a “painting party!” God only knows what they got themselves into, LOL. We had a little sweatshop going in my parents front yard 😉 Everything from sanding, to breaking windows/glass, to painting, then sanding again…you name it, we did it. While we didn’t get to finish everything all in one day, we definitely made progress. And we couldn’t have done it without the best team in the world…check out some of the day’s events.

no ones hard work goes un-noticed…we wouldn’t have been able to do it without you guys….

Mom, thanks for feeding the hungry and tired
Dad, thanks for supervising and getting your hands dirty too
Leroi, thanks working magic with the chicken wire
Thuy, thanks for painting and telling me everything looks cute! lol
Camille, thanks for literally getting down in the grass and helping with EVERYTHING!
Kristoffer, thanks for doing everything I say lol
Sherry, thanks for always being down for whatever
Jennie, thanks for wanting to be creative with me all the time
Dustin, thanks for sanding all the doors despite a broken arm =/
Jessica, thanks for helping us paint even in ur cute clothes lol
Ryan, thanks for snapping some pics and the home depot run
thanks to everyone who helped behind the scenes so far!

to my bubbs…thanks for being you, and for allowing us to have our dream wedding 🙂

save the date

2 Apr

It’s not anything new that I love to craft. This is also a late blog, but posting it anyway. If you can remember back, we asked our bridesmaids and groomsmen to be a part of our wedding party by taking pictures and sending them as postcards. To be consistent, this is also what we planned to do for our ‘save-the-dates’. In fact, we originally took pictures at our neighborhood park and had them edited and ready to go for printing. I’m still kind of getting the hang of playing around with photoshop, but I tried my hand at creating something that incorporated our fun pictures. I tried a little bit of this and a little bit of that, but ended up creating something completely different and fell in love. Did we use any of our pictures? Nope. But I love the outcome anyway. This is what we came up with, and this is what our loved ones received in the mail. Enjoy!

Oh, and just for fun…check out some of the pictures we didn’t get to use, but adore anyway. Maybe we’ll hang them up in our hallway, our bathroom…we’ll make good use of them, I’m sure!

i’ll be the one in white

20 Feb
First off, am I really going to give you all a sneak peek of what my wedding dress looks like….? Of course NOT! lol but enjoy the blog post and some of the silly dress pictures 😛
So I have to note that this is kind of a late blog entry, only because I actually bought my wedding dress in October. Nonetheless, I’m still ecstatic about it and I have to share my ‘say-yes-to-the-dress’ story with you all.
I know that most of the time, when women get engaged, one of the first things they want to do is go look for the dress. This was actually the opposite for me. When Ozzie and I first got engaged, I tried to avoid the ‘white dress’ for as long as I could because I was always afraid that I would never find one that was perfect for me…maybe I wouldn’t look right in this, or that…or maybe the ones that I loved so much in the magazines would disappoint me…you name it, I had an excuse. Not to mention I wanted to lose a little bit of weight first. Don’t we all, ladies? I also think I was still a little in denial that I was engaged. It’s the moment we girls all wait for our whole lives, and it was my turn, and I guess I kept thinking, ‘really? I get to go try on a wedding dress?…no, it can’t be!’ Anywho, October rolls around, and I figure it’s time.

I will say that I had THE most fun with my first wedding dress experience! I brought along my mom, my sister, and my maid of honor for my first experience and we went to the most adorable little wedding dress boutique in Anaheim called Mariposa Boutique. I truly felt like a princess! First of all, my appointment was for 11am and the whole store was mine. Yup! The whole store and all the dresses at my beck and call. We met with the sales rep and she basically said to look around and I could try on any dress I wanted. So here we are…my mom, my sister, my MOH, and myself, wandering around the store picking and choosing what I should try on. So much fun! I think I tried on a total of 8 dresses, some just for fun and other ones that I loved. Potentials! The fitting area had a little wooden runway with mirrors and romantic lighting, just for me to parade around with dresses. Even the music was cute…everything was just so perfect. With all the dresses I tried on, I narrowed it down to my top 3. Two of the three dresses were very similar, but both were missing a little something. Either there was no flower on it, or the flower was too big. Something was missing. The third dress, I absolutely loved, and so did the girls. It was a very romantic, vintage lace dress with a cathedral train. It was also almost 3 times my dress budget. womp! womp! Although mom said we’d be able to do it, there was something inside me that kept telling me that this dress still might not be the one (although, it definitely was the front runner up, hands down). So we left Mariposa…no dress, but definitely not discouraged. In fact, it only made me more excited to go try on more dresses.
A couple weeks passed, and I received a postcard in the mail for the Fabulous Bridal Affair Wedding Gown Sample Sale at the Hilton in downtown Long Beach. I had the day off, so my mom and I decided to check it out. This experience was a little different. We were put in a room with hundreds of wedding dresses and other women, and it was first-come, first-serve. And you basically try on the dresses together with all the other ladies in the same room…so everybody is looking at her dress and my dress, and everyone’s dress. Not as personable of an experience, but definitely affordable and worth the look. We found a couple of dresses that I liked. But didn’t love.
It was still early when we decided to leave, so we decided to still continue my wedding gown shopping that day. We decided to check out Las Tunas drive in Temple City, which I had heard had several wedding dress shops and other miscellaneous wedding shops. We stopped by a couple boutiques, and they had beautiful designer dresses that were very affordable, including dresses by designers Maggie Sottero, Mori Lee, Melissa Sweet, Watters, Pronovias, etc. I think I had exhausted my wedding dress count for the day, and decided to head home, but we drove passed another little boutique called Love Boat and decided to pass by. Perfect idea!

Love Boat is a very small wedding dress boutique, but also a wedding photography studio. It’s very quaint, and we didn’t need an appointment to look around. I must’ve tried on 5 more dresses that mom and I had chosen, when the consultant finally picked one that she thought I should try on just in case. Then it happened! The moment I had been waiting and hoping I would have…my ‘say-yes-to-the-dress’ moment! Ahhh! I was in LOVE with this Watters Too dress! I literally stepped out of the dressing room, onto centerstage, all lights on me…and had THE biggest smile on my face 🙂 I was literally twirling around in this dress like a little princess, that even the consultant had a laugh at me. To make the moment even more perfect, as I was looking at myself in this wedding dress, Edwin McCain’s “I’ll Be…” started playing overhead and I started crying tears of joy…this was my dress. Even mom had to wipe away a few tears (sorry mom!) lol. Sounds cheesy, but this was by far one of my favorite moments of wedding planning. After trying on probably over 20 dresses, I didn’t know if I was going to have that moment, and I did. And it was tailor-made for me. Even still, I’m feeling so smitten, and can’t wait to have Ozzie see me walking down the aisle in it for the first time 🙂

Valentines Day

16 Feb

We’ve been busy this month and we have lots of great content to post soon for your viewing pleasure.

But first, I (Ozzie) want to share a very special Valentines day post to honor my fiance. Here it goes…

Every year for Valentines Day we plan to go out for a nice dinner and we buy one another gifts etc. I think it’s awesome that we always find the time to celebrate Valentines Day, but this year I felt the need to show Nikki that she deserved more than just one day out of the year. I always tell her how beautiful she is and how much I love her, but I’m sure even that can get stale after 10 years. To spice things up this year, I decided to ditch the traditional dozen of red roses and instead I bought her a different color rose every day this month leading up to Valentines day. I wanted her to know that I love her and acknowledge her everyday and not just on Valentines Day.

I wasn’t able to take pictures of all of the roses but I was able to snap a few without her knowing. Either way this post should come as a total surprise to her. Babe, when you read this, I want you to know that I love you 24/7 365 and that you deserve the world. I hope you had a very Happy Valentines day.

a happy new year, indeed!

7 Jan

First off, Happy New Years to ALL of our friends & family! We hope your holidays were just as joyous as ours. We got to spend a lot of time with our families during this time, and it just makes us more excited to continue on with our journey ahead. 2011 was a wonderful year…traveled to Costa Rica with great friends, conquered Disney World, beach-bummed in Miami, got engaged!, two of my best friends got hitched, and Oz got a great new job opportunity! Now we’re so excited to kick off the new year because in about six months, we will officially be a ‘Mr. & Mrs.’ That also means CRUNCH TIME, and yes, we’re already starting to feel the pressure. Again, we’re so luckily to have our family and our friends around to help us with the little bit of planning we have left to do. 2012 has already gotten a great start…

Since our last post, we were able to welcome Studio Castillero and Rainbow Fish Cinema into our family of vendors. First off, I will say that I am super excited about our photographers and their unique, editorial style of shooting. Rachel Castillero has been nothing but down-to-earth and easy to contact, and for that we are so thankful. We can’t wait to meet them, and have a fun little engagement shoot before the big day! Secondly, our cinematographers over at RainbowFish Cinema rock!  Before we got to sit down and meet with them over a cup of coffee, I did my share in research of wedding videographers. I swear I must’ve watched over 100 wedding videos during this time, and almost each one of them made me cry! This is really the reason why we wanted a unique cinematographer to capture our day…we want to remember the sounds, the emotion, the laughter, and the love that goes on on our wedding day. When I found RainbowFish Cinema, I immediately noticed their travel resume through video, and I thought ‘oh man, these guys are right up my alley…!’ One of my favorite videos of theirs, is a wedding they shot in Bali, Indonesia…so beautiful! Well after a cup of coffee, and  meeting with Mike & Kenny, we were hooked. Mike and Kenny are so down-to-earth, and made us feel so comfortable and excited about our wedding day. They reminded us that above everything else that goes on during the wedding, to remember that the day is about us and about our love for each other. We can’t wait to have these two awesome vendors capture our day! Here’s just a sneak peek of our photographers work below, which was recently featured in Style Me Pretty’s Best of Weddings of 201 1 🙂
