diy: will you be my…?

17 Aug

Yay for my first DIY wedding project! I thought it’d be fun to officially ask our friends to be a part of our wedding party by sending them a little note. Well, a cute little note turned into a mini scrapbook project (which I love I doing anyway). We used one of my kitchen chalkboards, a little park for the background, and some scrapbooking essentials: eyelets, stamps, and twine, etc. I love the classic “brown paper bag” look, so that’s the paper I decided to use, which goes perfectly well with the vintage/organic look that I’m going for. Check out the pictures below, and if future brides have any questions on how I made these, send me a message!

I love the whimsical look of the banner stamp, so I used the transparent ink, with blue and pink embossing power, and finally the heat embossing tool to create the look below. The photos are mounted to the paper using vintage-patterned tape, found at any local craft store (I bought everything from Michaels). Then two eyelets and some twine, and voila!

My favorite part of these little cards are actually the envelopes! The envelopes are also in “brown paper bag” from Paper Source. We printed the addresses on the envelopes from our own home printer using the Courier New font, which is my favorite font because it mimics the old-fashioned type-writer (notice the names printed in the old instant-label font ;)). The ‘handle with care’ and ‘paper clip’ stamps come from an assortment of Vintage Office rubber stamps. And finally, I LOVE getting personal mail, so we used several different stamps ranging from 0.01 to 0.29 cents, to give it the old postcard feel (my favorite part of the entire envelope).

We hope our friends enjoy receiving this as much as I had fun making them! 🙂
